Merson Signs have just simultaneously revealed new signage across the UK for the FTSE 100 Standard Life group. The reveal follows on from an extensive design, manufacture and installation project, which we began back in March 2010.
Standard Life’s new visual identity, designed by top 100 design consultancy JKR, reflects a new brand positioning and the forward thinking approach the company is taking to people’s long term savings needs. It is part of a wider transformation at Standard Life. Our involvement in the project included the design, manufacture and installation of signage across all UK Standard Life properties.
We were initially appointed to design and develop a range of sign types that would fit with the new visual identity - working closely with JKR to ensure that design aspirations were carried through to the final product. We also produced a set of signage guidelines, which will be used to implement the new visual identity consistently at Standard Life properties across the globe.
After a separate tender process, Merson Signs was also selected to implement the manufacture and installation of the new signage. This included all signage in the Standard Life UK signage estate with a phased installation process timed to coincide with the launch dates for different Standard Life business units. This project posed many challenges, one of the largest of which was keeping this highly confidential project under wraps before the brand reveal. All newly installed signage, including external signage at high profile locations in London and Edinburgh, had to be concealed until the launch day, which was no easy task!
However, having delivered a similar reveal project for Santander in 2010 and utilising our tested processes and network of national installers, we are now well used to delivering high profile brand projects of this nature in tight timeframes.
